The Montgomery County Board of Commissioners met for their regular meeting on Tuesday, May 28. They met to discuss the mailing machine rental, appointing Ashley Han as Human Resources Director, public transportation, the dissolution of MEDA, motor vehicle fund sales tax, local drowning prevention and the 2025 budget.

The Coffeyville Area Chamber of Commerce has recently announced that they are beginning a new initiative to give local businesses and their employees a way to give back to the community. It is called the Chamber Champion Program.

At the last City Commission Meeting, the Commission approved a Kansas Department of Transportation grant contribution. This $3,000 contribution will go toward implementing a public transportation program provided by the Southeast Kansas Community Action Program, also known as SEK-CAP.

The City of Coffeyville’s Housing Department offers many programs to assist home buyers, those wanting to build a new home and issues grants for home improvement. Some home improvement grants prioritize assisting seniors and disabled individuals. The funding for these projects all comes out of the Housing and Community Development portion of the ½-cent sales tax fund.
